Jerry Vernold Champions Innovative Financing for UHS Delaware Valley Hospital Expansion!
HANCOCK, NY – Hancock Town Supervisor Jerry Vernold is taking action to secure the future of healthcare in our region. As a member of the Delaware County Board of Supervisors, Jerry Vernold recently voted in favor of creating the Delaware County Capital Resource Corporation (CRC)—a groundbreaking financing solution that will enable the $80.6 million expansion of UHS Delaware Valley Hospital. How does this benefit our community?
The CRC allows for tax-exempt financing, saving the hospital an estimated $20–30 million over the project’s lifetime, without any cost or liability to county taxpayers.
The new expansion will create a state-of-the-art, four-story “medical neighborhood,” offering comprehensive healthcare services right here in Delaware County. This means more specialized care, modern facilities, and improved healthcare outcomes—bringing vital services closer to families in Hancock and all surrounding communities.
Supervisor Vernold explains,
“Given the uncertainty of future federal support for rural healthcare, it is prudent to find alternate funding sources to meet the health care needs of our residents. This innovative approach protects taxpayers while ensuring our community has access to quality healthcare for generations to come.”
The Delaware Valley Hospital expansion is expected to deliver lasting benefits, strengthen local health services, and improve quality of life for everyone in our region. Follow this page for updates on project progress and new community initiatives.
