HANCOCK, NY — More than 200 residents and visitors gathered Friday evening in Hancock Town Square for a memorable America 250 Concert Celebration, enjoying an outstanding performance by the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts Concert Band as the community kicked off Independence Day weekend.
Families filled the lawn with lawn chairs and blankets while children and adults alike enjoyed an evening of patriotic favorites, American classics, and concert band selections. The beautiful outdoor setting, surrounded by the rolling hills of the Upper Delaware River Valley, provided the perfect backdrop for the celebration.
Under the direction of Dr. Joseph M. Bello, USAF (Ret.), the talented young musicians of the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts delivered an inspiring performance that showcased not only exceptional musical ability but also the dedication and enthusiasm of young performers from around the world.
The event was made possible through the partnership of the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts, the Hancock Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Hancock Area Farmer’s Market & Crafts Fair, American Legion Post 289, Hancock Partners, Inc., the Town of Hancock, and the Village of Hancock.
Organizers expressed their sincere appreciation to Hancock Partners, Inc. for the continued use of the beautiful Hancock Town Square, a gathering place that has become the heart of many community celebrations and events.
Special thanks were also extended to the French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts for sharing their remarkable Concert Band with the Hancock community. Their gifted young musicians brought an evening of outstanding entertainment that was enjoyed by audience members of all ages.
Perhaps the greatest highlight of the evening was the tremendous community support. More than 200 people, including many families and children on the playground, attended the free concert, demonstrating Hancock’s commitment to supporting arts, culture, and community events.
As the nation approaches the celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary, the concert served as a reminder of the importance of music, community partnerships, and hometown traditions that bring people together.
The evening concluded with enthusiastic applause and appreciation for the performers, leaving attendees with lasting memories and a wonderful start to the Independence Day holiday weekend.
